Prophylaxis
Dental prophylaxis means prevention. It is the simplest and cheapest method of treatment. Prophylaxis is the prevention of dental disease, but also the prevention of complications, in the case of already existing and asymptomatic diseases. Thus, prophylaxis means early detection, avoiding complicated and expensive treatments. In this regard, regular visits to the dentist are very important. A visit every 6 months can surprise and treat in advance the various dental diseases that could get complicated. Dental prophylaxis must start from the appearance of the first teeth and must be continued throughout life. It represents the first and most important stage of tooth care.

Procedures

Dental sealings

Sealings are the covering of the grooves and pits of freshly erupted teeth. It is a necessary procedure immediately after the eruption of the teeth. The moment when the practice of sealing begins is the age of 6 years. Basically, in the grooves and in the pits of the permanent teeth (sometimes even for the temporary ones) a material similar to the one used for the filling of the teeth is applied. The material remains permanent on the crown surface and prevents the retention of bacterial plaque, prevents the development of caries and facilitates the cleaning of surfaces.

Descaling

Scaling is not an invasive workmanship and does not hurt. It is recommended at a period of 6 months or even at 1 year, and modern methods of treatment involve the use of an ultrasound-based device. It removes tartar. The stone on the teeth is not only unsightly, but will also affect the teeth over time. The presence of tartar favors the appearance of periodontal disease. Tartar is a reservoir of bacteria for the entire oral cavity.

Brushing

Professional brushing is carried out with the help of prophylaxis paste (it contains particles with various flavors and granulations) and special silicone cups or toothbrushes. Professional brushing has not only a prophylactic and therapeutic effect, but also an aesthetic one. It removes all food staining deposited over time. The colors appear due to smoking, coffee, tea, wine, but also colored sauces. Professional dental brushing is performed after scaling and aims to polish and smooth the dental surfaces.

Airflow

The airflow consisted of the pressure spraying on the tooth of a jet that mixes air, water and baking soda. This method is also a way of whitening that does not use whitening chemicals, but works through the mechanical power of cleaning bicarbonate crystals. The jet of the airflow system penetrates into the smallest interdental spaces, thus having an efficient action on all surfaces of the tooth.
